When You Give, You Get the Best Back!

Today was a great day! My friend Barbara, fellow member of the family council at Bancroft, and I were giving out gifts bought by family donations to their incredible staff. Smiles, thank yous, and excitement. But one man stood out today. As we wheeled out a dirt bike donated by a family member, he just stood overwhelmed for quite some time. Finally, he looked at us and said, “I don’t know what to say.” I said, “Just say thank you.” He looked up and with the softest voice said,” I am just so grateful.” Barbara said, “that meant even more than thank you.” I agreed. I love the saying that goes, “Life is not measured by the breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.”

I know with every fiber of my being that this is the only way to stop bullying. Engage people in giving and then let them experience the wonderful feelings of kindness, goodness and being lovable. It is not just important to engage them in service but to give them the feedback that shapes their worth. Stay tuned tomorrow as I share what EI attribute is connected to gratefulness and service.
